John Meacham

	John Meacham, 80, of DuQuoin, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. in his home.
	Mr. Meacham had been a carpenter and a general contractor and had worked in mine construction.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in North Africa and Europe.  He was a member of DuQuoin VFW Post 513 and DuQuoin American Legion Post 647.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was active in the Franklin Co. Beagle Club, the DuQuoin Bass Club and the National and Illinois State Rifle Associations.
	He was born March 22, 1921 in Lincoln, Ill., the son of Herman and Mary (Ryan) Meacham.  He married pauline Juhl on June 30, 1946 at New Holland, Ill.
	Surviving are his wife, Pauline Meacham of DuQuoin; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Bonnie Meacham of Chester and Bill and Nadine Meacham of Edwardsville; three daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Meacham of Springfield, Joe Ellyn and Robert Grove of Fairbanks, Alaska and Sandra Meacham of DuQuoin; one sister, Mary Hurley of Lincoln and four grandchildren, Matt of Chester, Ann and Mike of Edwardsville and Casey of Fairbanks, Alaska.
	He was preceded in death by his parents.
	Funeral services were Saturday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Darwin Schrader and David Juhl officiating.  Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park in DuQuoin.
	Friends called Friday, March 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m.until time of service.
	Graveside military rites were conducted by the DuQuoin VFW and American Legion.
	Memorials may be made to Hospice of Perry County or the National Rifle Association.
